Preston Crossroads Road Improvements
PRESTON CROSSROADS carriageway is due to be resurfaced as part of a programme of road improvement works in the East Riding.
Work is scheduled to take place on five Sundays only (weather permitting) on the following dates:
- Sundays 18th, 25th July 2010
- Sundays 8th, 15th and 22nd August 2010.
The improvement work will consist of replacing defective/worn ironwork, replacing up to 180 mm deep of existing carriageway surface, some isolated kerbing and a micro asphalt surfacing to footpaths. This will be completed by the reinstatement of road markings and traffic signal loops.
Due to the restricted width of the road and to undertake the work safely, it will be necessary to close the crossroads to all traffic (except emergency services) during working hours. Working hours will be 8am to 8pm. The council is asking residents living within the scheme limits to park vehicles away from the work area during working hours. Access will be via the roads approaching the crossroads. Pedestrians will have access at all times.
During the closure, traffic will be diverted via Saltend, Thorngumbald, Burstwick, Daisy Hill, Lelley and the B1239 near Sandyhill Nursery.
The normal Sunday bus services 78 and 277 will be changed on closure dates with revised arrangements made by east Yorkshire Motor Services (see EYMS Service Information).
