Emergency Planning Guide - Get ready for the unexpected!
"GET READY FOR THE UNEXPECTED!" is the message from the East Riding Council in a new publication being distributed to local residents.
The Council has produced an Emergency Planning Guide which advises residents of plans in place to protect communities in situations such as pandemic flu outbreaks, flooding and the affects of severe weather, power cuts and environmental pollution.
The Guide contains six steps to help households prepare for emergencies that can disrupt daily lives and help keep families safe.
Families are asked to consider the kind of emergencies that could happen and make appropriate plans. There is a useful form to fill in on the centre pages which will outline your household emergency plan and useful information.
Please read and act upon the Emergency Planning Guide. Keep it by the telephone or somewhere handy as an essential reference.
A copy of the booklet will be delivered with the February 2010 edition of council publication East Riding News. Copies can also be downloaded as a PDF file below or obtained from the East Riding Council on 01482 393095.
