Business News Snippets

THE REJUVENATION of Hedon continues apace. The re-development of Alison Hall into a new cafe bar and restaurant looks very close to completion. The Hedon Blog and HU12.net hopes to bring you the news of the proposed opening date and other information about the new venue very soon.

A new business, presumably a shop, is moving into the marketplace at the old Couplands store and joiners are in there at the moment refurbishing the interior. The Blog will keep you up to date on developments.

In other business news the Souttergate based cake shop Sweet: The Cake Company got coverage in the Hull Daily Mail recently. Business has really been sweet for the Hedon daughter and mother team who have now opened a second cake shop in Cottingham Road, Hull in order to keep up with demand for their upmarket confectionary. Sweet produce what they describe as "Classic, Contemporary, Fairytale and Chocolate Cake Designs."

Hedon Salads (sites at Burstwick and Newport) - who trade magazine 'Horticulture Week' describe as "the largest UK growers of cucumbers and aubergines" - has recently got recognition for its services and operation by being featured as a case study in a Government publication about Rainwater as a resource (PDF file). The company harvests rainwater to supply water into their hydroponic plant feeding system.

Hedon Salads has also been in the trade news because of its proposed merger with Selby based English Village Salads.
